ANA and TAM agree to code share

22 Sep 2010

All Nippon Airways (ANA) and TAM Airlines, both Star Alliance members, have announced a code-sharing agreement from October 15, 2010, subject to government approval.

The initiative will allow customers of both carriers greater access to Asia and South America, connecting Tokyo and Sâo Paulo through London.

ANA will place its NH flight code on TAM flights between Heathrow and Guarulhos Airport in Sao Paulo, while TAM Airlines will put its JJ flight code on ANA flights between Narita and Heathrow.

ANA and TAM have been cooperating since May, allowing members of their loyalty schemes, ANA Mileage Club and TAM Fidelidide, to accrue and redeem miles on both carriers.

TAM joined Star Alliance only in May, and has been trying to provide members of the group greater convenience and value when visiting South America. It has made available the Brazil Airpass (see news) allowing travel through its entire domestic network.
