The hotel chain, which has long been in Thailand, is disbursing 1,000 free rooms online, to boost the country’s battered tourism image.

Banyan Tree Hotels and Resorts is the latest industry player pitching in to raise Thailand’s tourism profile, battered by a series of anti-government protests which disrupted business and shut down Survarnabhumi Airport last November.

Today, it launched the Banyan Tree Thailand Smiles Again promotion, aimed at giving travellers a new reason to return to the Kingdom and its properties Banyan Tree Bangkok and Banyan Tree Phuket.

A total of 1,000 complimentary room nights at the hotels will be disbursed online from tomorrow, January 8 to 31.

To qualify, customers must book online and they will receive one free night on the consecutive night at the Best Available Rates that are found online. Stays are valid from February 1 to April 30 of this year, with both dates inclusive.

Says Sunee U-Thaikittisup, director of sales and marketing of Banyan Tree Bangkok: “With our historic strong ties in this country, we are very upbeat about Thailand’s potential and are confident that old tourists will return. Thailand has so much to offer and Banyan Tree would like to give that additional incentive to draw new and gold guests back to Phuket and Bangkok.”
