China Southern to open Brisbane and Auckland route

26 May 2010

Guangdong-based China Southern Airlines is to launch a new route between the business and manufacturing hub of Guangzhou and the Australian city of Brisbane and Auckland in New Zealand from November 3.

This will be the first route to New Zealand by a Chinese airline and China Southern’s third route into Australia. China Southern, which is a member of the Skyteam airline alliance, currently flies from Guangzhou to Sydney and Melbourne.

Auckland is New Zealand’s business capital and Brisbane is both a gateway to Queensland leisure destinations as well as being a major seaport and commercial centre. There will be three flights each week on the route.

Flight CZ381 will leave Guangzhou at 2350 on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, and will arrive at Brisbane at 1050 the following day. After a two-hour stopover the flight will arrive in Auckland at 1900. The return flight, CZ382, will fly on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. It will depart Auckland at 2100 arriving in Brisbane at 2200 the same evening and will land in Guangzhou at 0700 the following morning.

China Southern has numerous connecting services across major Chinese cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Changchun, Changsha, Chengdu and Dalian.
