Newly opened Hilton New Delhi/Janakpuri is rushing to complete a 1,100sqm meeting venue that will complement its 900 square-metre Grand Ballroom, two products designed to solidify a serious play for the corporate market.

"The meeting space will house function rooms for small corporate meetings and conference breakout sessions. It will be ready to open within the next three months," hotel general manager Neeraj Chadha told Business Traveller.

The hotel has a dedicated events team tasked to handle corporate groups. At their disposal is the unique Conference and Event Suite, a 623sqm showroom which allows event organisers to view proposed set-ups of meeting rooms, coffee breaks and gala dinners among others.

"Companies can come to us with their requirements for an event, and we can show them how particular elements will look like by putting together either a mock set-up or replicating it electronically," he explained.

The 10-storey Hilton New Delhi/Janakpuri opened several weeks ago with 228 rooms, including 11 suites. Its Executive and Executive Plus rooms, measuring from 33sqm, are reportedly among the largest in the city. Room amenities include a state-of-the-art entertainment system, high-def flat panel, a huge bathroom made of Italian marble, a large working desk and adjustable ergonomic chair.

"We hope to appeal to individual business travellers and corporate groups," said Chadha. "One of our unique selling points is that we are the freshest product within seven- to eight-kilometre radius of this area, which is only 25-minutes away from the international airport in the evening and early morning when most international flights are arriving and departing from New Delhi."

West Delhi, where the hotel is situated enjoys a large business community base. Furthermore, it stands right next to the Janakpuri West Metro station – part of the Delhi Metro Line 3 completed last November, providing hotel guests with easy access the central business district that includes Connaught Place and Gurgaon.

"We find that a lot of business travellers are more open about commuting by train, so being near the station makes the hotel very convenient for our them," said Chadha.

To mark the opening, guests booking at the hotel before March 31 receive a 50 percent discount on the best available rate.

Hilton New Delhi/Janakpui is Hilton Worldwide's second property in India after the Hilton Garden Inn. The chain expects to put up another Hilton Hotel in Bangalore. Two hotels – one under the Double Tree brand and the other under the Hilton Garden Inn brand – are set to open by the end of the year.

Hilton Worldwide has a pipeline of more than 20 hotels. spanning luxury and mid-scale properties, in India within the next five years
