Hongkong hotels attract Taiwan travellers

Travellers from Taiwan have more reason to visit Hongkong, following packages launched collaboratively by China Airlines and several Hongkong hotels.
Packages with return air tickets and one night’s stay are priced between HK$1,039 (US$134) and HK$1,796 (US$232), while two-night stays cost HK$1,259 (US$163) to HK$1,924 (US$249).
Participating hotels include Hongkong Disneyland’s Hollywood Hotel, Langham Place Hotel and the Kowloon Shangri-La.
Traffic to Hongkong from Taiwan has seen an 11 percent drop due to direct flights between Taiwan and Mainland China since December.
Hongkong Tourism Board chairman James Tien said tourists from Taiwan usually spent about HK$5,000 (US$645) on holidays in Hongkong.
