One of Asia’s oldest hotel icons, the Sofitel Metropole Hanoi, Vietnam has become the first hotel to be rebranded as a Legend within the Accor group.
The Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi was built in 1901, during the French colonial period, and lies in the heart of Hanoi, near Hoan Kiem Lake and the Opera House.
It became the first choice of many visiting statesmen and celebrities such as Somerset Maugham, Noel Coward, Charlie Chaplin, Graham Greene, Jane Fonda and Sir Michael Caine.
The Legend brand is designed to raise the profile of an exclusive selection of Accor’s high-end properties, which have a heritage and history of over a century.

The hotel has undergone an extensive renovation and restoration in order for it to achieve its place as the world’s first “Sofitel Legend”.
The hotel’s 364 rooms occupy the centenary Metropole Wing, whose 110 rooms and suites feature a blend of tradition and modernity, and the 254-room Opera Wing, renovated to integrate new technology with comfort.
