The first InterContinental Residence property in Asia, InterContinental Asiana Saigon Residences, will open in September this year, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

InterContinental Hotel Group (IHG) will also be launching the InterContinental Asiana Saigon hotel, in the Kumho Asiana Plaza complex, in the centre of Ho Chi Minh City’s business precinct – 30 minutes drive from Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

“Within the complex is also a 7,000sqm premium luxury shopping arcade where our hotel guests and residences tenants can enjoy first-class shopping experience,” said Philip Riley, regional general manager in Vietnam for IHG.

“We saw great opportunities for synergy between the two towers on our site in Ho Chi Minh City. Opportunities to work, live, shop and entertain all in the same complex. Residents can use hotel dining facilities for example while enjoying the shopping that will also be housed on site,” he added.

The 21-storey hotel will feature 305 guestrooms, including 18 suites and a presidential suite, Club InterContinental, a business centre, three restaurants, a lounge and cocktail bar and meeting spaces that take up 1,708sqm, including seven meeting rooms and a ballroom that can accommodate up to 600 persons. Fitness and spa facilities are also provided.

The 31-storey InterContinental Asiana Saigon Residences will boast 260 serviced apartments – 140 one-bedroom units, 84 two-bedroom units and 36 three-bedroom units.

The new residence will also offer in-house dining options, Wi-Fi internet access, a business centre, meeting facilities, convenience store and undercover parking facilities among many other benefits. A residential kids’ club is likewise located in the premises.

Riley said: “Our location is perfect for business travellers, with the best proximity to major office towers in the city. The integration with a residential and office tower give us an unmatchable mix for companies looking to set an office in one building, bring in senior management and house them on-site in our residential tower, and provide the city’s best hotel facilities – all in the same complex.”

He added: “The rooms in the hotel have all been designed with the business traveller in mind – little things such as lighting and desk space really matter to business travellers, and this is what we have made an effort to particularly cater to.”

Already boasting several residential complexes in Boston and Dubai, IHG is planning to expand in Vietnam.

“Our forthcoming Hanoi property, the InterContinental Hanoi Landmark, due to open in 2011, will offer 300 serviced residences, as we see considerable growth potential for premium residences in Vietnam's capital in years to come,” said Riley.
