Major Japanese carriers offer new service enhancements

Passengers on All Nippon Airlines (ANA) and Japan Airlines (JAL) will experience new inflight service enhancements (see news) when both carriers introduce their revamped network and flight schedules on October 25.

ANA will introduce "pay for value" services that allow domestic and international passengers in Economy Class to enjoy certain items and services that are only available to customers in domestic Premium Economy and international Business Class respectively.

The selection of new paid-for services from October will include:

    •    Premium Class meals made available to domestic Economy Class passengers

    •    Business Class meals and drinks made available to international Economy Class passengers

    •    Access to domestic and international lounges

    •    "Onigiri" rice balls and/or miso soup made available to domestic and international Economy Class

Services popular with ANA Mileage Club Premium members will be offered  on a paid-for basis to a wider customer base. The airline also expects to offer brand-new services under this offer to cater to passengers' evolving needs.

JAL will introduce new seat types on four long-haul flights from Tokyo (Narita). Services to Chicago and Los Angeles will feature JAL Suites in First Class and JAL Shell Flat Neo seats in Business Class as well as a new Premium Economy cabin class.  Aircraft bound for Milan and Rome will be equipped with JAL Shell Flat seats in Business Class.
