Singapore Airlines has announced today it will mount flights to Sao Paulo –its first South American destination - via Barcelona from March 28, codesharing with Spanair.
Running three times a week, the Boeing B777-300ER will be used on this route, which features the carrier's upgraded inflight facilities and seats. The flight departs Singapore on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 0040 hours, arriving in Barcelona at 0820. The connecting flight then departs Barcelona at 0930 and arrives in Sao Paulo at 1555.
The return leg departs from Sao Paulo on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays at 0145, arriving in Barcelona at 1735. From Barcelona, the flight departs at 1845 and arrives back in Singapore at 1335 on the following day.
This route is likely to be the first of many more South American routes by Singapore Airlines due to an Open Skies Agreement (OSA) signed between Singapore and Brazil last year.
Both carriers belong to Star Alliance, allowing KrisFlyer and Spanair Plus members to earn and redeem miles on this new route.
