Thai Airways has introduced the new elite invitation-only tier, Platinum, to its Royal Orchid Plus (ROP) frequent flier programme.
This latest category goes above ROP's Gold tier, and the invitation to enjoy Platinum status is only extended to Thai’s most loyal customers, who travel frequently in premium classes and have maintained Gold status for a long time. To maintain this, members need to earn at least 50,000 miles or need to have flown at least 40 international Thai flights in a calendar year.
Platinum status members will enjoy all the benefits of a Gold status member with several added benefits and recognition, the most important of which include no expiry of miles and a waiver of ROP service fees, such as that for changing the award nominee or for rerouting a Thai award ticket. Currently, miles for Silver and Gold status members expire after three years.
Other benefits include priority reservation service and guaranteed confirmed economy class seats 48 hours prior to departure, a dedicated check-in area at Suvarnabhumi Airport, access to the Royal first class lounges and the immigration fast track in Bangkok as well as additional baggage allowance of 30kg (Silver members have an extra baggage allowance of 10kg and Gold members receive an extra 20kg).
